3D-spline reconstruction using shape from shading: Spline from shading
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this work, we describe an original method of solving the shape from shading (SFS) problem, which relies on the marriage of two simple ideas. On the one hand, we propose to modelize the scene by a parametric surface, namely a 3D-spline. The key advantage is that boundary conditions are no longer required to render the problem well-posed. On the other hand, we introduce the concept of ‘‘useful domain’’: this is a sufficient set of pixels, whose greylevels are in accordance with the SFS hypotheses, which allows to solve the SFS problem on the whole reconstruction domain. The proposed method is described for both formulations of SFS, corresponding to orthographic and perspective projections. We can thus validate our method on synthetic as well as on real images. 2007 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.

متن کاملB-spline Shape from Motion & Shading: An Automatic Free-form Surface Modeling for Face Reconstruction
Recently, many methods have been proposed for face reconstruction from multiple images, most of which involve fundamental principles of Shape from Shading and Structure from motion. However, a majority of the methods just generate discrete surface model of face. In this paper, Bspline Shape from Motion and Shading (BsSfMS) is proposed to reconstruct continuous B-spline surface for multiview fac...
متن کاملPhysically-based Adaptive Preconditioning for Early Vision 1
Several problems in early vision have been formulated in the past in a regularization framework. These problems when discretized lead to large sparse linear systems. In this paper, we present a novel physically-based adaptive preconditioning technique which can be used in conjunction with a conjugate gradient algorithm to drastically improve the speed of convergence for solving the aforemention...
متن کاملShading-Aware Multi-view Stereo
We present a novel multi-view reconstruction approach that effectively combines stereo and shape-from-shading energies into a single optimization scheme. Our method uses image gradients to transition between stereo-matching (which is more accurate at large gradients) and Lambertian shape-from-shading (which is more robust in flat regions). In addition, we show that our formulation is invariant ...
متن کامل3D Reconstruction Using Cubic Bezier Spline Curves and Active Contours (Case Study)
Introduction 3D reconstruction of an object from its 2D cross-sections (slices) has many applications in different fields of sciences such as medical physics and biomedical engineering. In order to perform 3D reconstruction, at first, desired boundaries at each slice are detected and then using a correspondence between points of successive slices surface of desired object is reconstructed. Mate...
